Femur Projection

AP Projection

• Patient Supine
• Femur to mid line of table
• Rotate leg about 5 degrees internally to ensure true AP
• Include knee joint

Technical Factors

• 14 x 17 cassette lengthwise.
• CR to midpoint of IR
• SOD 40 inch
• Application of shielding
• Marker
• Patient name, ID, date taken the radiograph

Lateral Projection

• Roll patient upon affected side so injury will be closer to IR
• Flex the knees 45 degrees.
• Move the unaffected femur out of the ROI
• Allign the femur with mid line of table
• Include knee joint

Technical Factors

• CR midpoint of IR
• SID 40 inch
• Include knee joint
• Condyles should be superimposed
